Website Services... contribute: maintain control over your website content

Welcome to Macromedia's Contribute.

Every site that we build here at Aithene Multimedia, except .NET and Flash based sites, are created to be compatible with Macromedia's outstanding breakthrough product, Contribute at no extra charge. Our clients, and even we ourselves, have found it to be incredibly useful for making quick content changes to our websites.

We also offer configuration services for those who already have a site but wish to take advantage of Contribute's incredibly powerful (and safe) tools. Contribute offers unparalleled value for our clients who like to maintain direct control of their website content or who need to eliminate the expense of hiring a web designer to spend hours on frequent site maintenance.

How it Works:
Contribute gives the website designer (that's us) the ability to lock certain areas of the site to protect the design and functionality of the pages, while opening up the content areas to change by a content editor (that's you). This is how the process works:

1. The web designer uses Dreamweaver to designate which areas of the pages can be edited, and which areas are off limits.
2. The web designer can also set permissions as to who can edit which pages, which is helpful if different people have responsibility over only a small section of the site.
3. The content editors use their copy of Contribute to browse to the page they wish to edit, just as if they were using Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
4. Once at the desired page, the content editor can simply click in the areas that they wish to edit, and start typing. They can also drag and drop different file types into the design such as Word, Excel, and image files.
5. The content editor may also create new pages, links, and many other standard web tools.
6. At any time, a content editor can revert to a previously saved version of the page (not only good for fixing problems, but also for changing a page for a couple of days, and then setting it back to the way it was before.)

Contribute is a standalone application. It works with both Windows and Macintosh systems. It also works on any server platform. In a nutshell, no matter who built your site, or what type of design software they used, Dreamweaver, GoLive, Front Page, or even if it's hand-coded, your site can be configured to use Contribute.

The cost of configuring a site that's already been built will vary depending on the type and size of the site.

• Requested number of copies of Macromedia's Contribute ($149/each retail)
• Configuration of your website to protect the "breakable" areas of the website
• Assignment of the various pages to the appropriate individuals assigned to edit them.
• Installation and configuration of Contribute on your computer.
• On-site or phone training for your content editors.
